It Was Very Good – Humanity Caused Extinction

extinction

And to every beast of the earth and to every bird of the sky and to every thing that moves on the earth which has life, I have given every green plant for food”; and it was so.

And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.

Extinction is Forever

The quote above is from the King James translation of the Book of Genesis, chapter 1 verses 30 and 31. The verses relate the end of one of the creation stories found in Genesis where God looks over his works and declares it good. Verse 28 of Genesis One states that the God of the Old Testament tells Humanity that they are to “rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” Contemporary popular Christian exegesis has taken these verses to mean that Humanity have cart blanche to to alter, poison, and despoil creation.

This interpretation has provided Humanity moral cover as it ruins this planet in pursuit of short term gains. A practice that has left Earth and us the poorer. We have been gifted a marvelous and precious gift and instead of preserving, protecting, and expanding it we have squandered it. We have been so presumptuous to tear asunder what God hath joined together.

This series is a recollection of some of what we have lost on account of being “wicked and slothful servants.”
